Transformative trip that led to a journey!
While living a healthy lifestyle and wanting to share healthy alternatives to improve your health, Ryan, our founder, embarked on a journey to validate his curiosity about matcha.
This matcha ceremonial experience inspired him to share and explore its numerous benefits and cultural heritage. He envisioned bringing a matcha connection to Charleston while introducing the product as part of a healthy daily lifestyle. He believes that education is the most important aspect of introducing matcha to people so that they understand its effects on their bodies!
The vision to bring it to Charleston was more than a business, it’s a way for the community to connect, learn, and immerse themselves in the matcha culture while enjoying and appreciating its benefits.
Holy City Matcha was inspired by the desire to offer delicious, healthy tea drinks, share Japanese culture, and create a long-lasting community!

Charleston, known as the “Holy City,” is celebrated for its skyline of stately church steeples, dating back to its establishment as Charles Towne in 1670 Holy City Matcha embraces authenticity, delivering ceremonial-grade matcha that represents the best of Japanese tea culture.
